At Cheeky Minds, we are committed to ensuring that children have a safe, comfortable, and restful sleep environment. We recognize that sleep is vital for healthy growth, development, and wellbeing.

This policy applies to all children attending Cheeky Minds and all staff responsible for their care.

Sleep Routines

  • We respect each child’s individual sleep patterns and needs.

  • Sleep times are structured around each child’s routine at home whenever possible.

  • Children who do not need sleep will be provided with quiet activities in a calm environment.

Sleep Environment

  • Children sleep in a quiet, comfortable, and safe area.

  • Mats are used appropriately for each child’s age and development.

  • Bedding is clean, hygienic, and appropriate for the child’s size.

  • The sleep environment is free from hazards and regularly checked for safety.

Supervision

  • Children are checked at regular intervals during sleep.

  • Staff remain vigilant for any signs of discomfort, distress, or illness.

  • Staff maintain logs of sleep times and observations, which are shared with parents.

Safe Sleep Practices

  • Infants (under 12 months) are placed on their backs to sleep, unless otherwise instructed by a parent or healthcare professional.

  • Soft toys, pillows, and loose bedding are kept out for infants.

  • Temperature in the sleep area is comfortable.

  • Parents provide guidance for any specific sleep requirements or routines for their child.

Communication with Parents

  • Parents are informed of their child’s sleep patterns, including duration and any notable observations.

  • Any changes in sleep routine or concerns will be discussed promptly.

  • Parents are encouraged to provide information on their child’s sleep preferences and needs.

Non-Compliance

  • Staff are trained to follow this sleep policy at all times.

  • Any failure to adhere to safe sleep practices will be addressed immediately to maintain child safety
